Michelle L. Commance
Michelle received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Women’s Studies from the University of Calgary in 2006 and her Juris Doctor as a member of the inaugural graduating class at Thompson Rivers University Faculty of Law in Kamloops, BC, in 2014. Michelle joined Scott Venturo Rudakoff LLP in 2014 as an articling student and became an associate upon being called to the Alberta Bar in 2015.
Michelle maintains a general civil litigation practice with particular emphasis on insurance defence, including accident injury, property damage, construction deficiency and professional negligence claims. She has appeared before the Provincial Court of Alberta and the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench as well as representing clients in mediation proceedings.
Prior to entering law school, Michelle worked with both the Government of Canada as well as a multi-national oil and gas company in Calgary. During law school Michelle volunteered with organizations benefiting low income individuals, as well as participating in mentorship programs for first and second year students.
