Professional Background

Mavy maintains a civil litigation practice with a focus on insurance defence. He has represented insurers and their insureds in a broad range of claims, including director and officer liability, bodily injury, product liability, civil assault, property damage, and subrogated claims. He also advises clients on commercial and construction litigation.

Mavy takes an even-keeled, big-picture approach to his files. He works to resolve disputes fairly and efficiently through negotiation, mediation, or trial, always keeping matters moving forward toward resolution. Clients value his ability to stay focused on the ultimate goal, cut through the noise, and achieve results that are just and practical.

Mavy is a member of both the Alberta and British Columbia bars, and has successfully appeared before the Alberta Court of Justice, Court of King’s Bench of Alberta, and the Supreme Court of British Columbia. He brings hands-on experience from his time at a national firm, where he appeared in court, mediations, pre-trial conferences, and questionings. He particularly enjoys the advocacy side of his work and is committed to delivering results that protect his clients’ interests.

Mavy has always found satisfaction in helping people. In addition to his litigation practice, he assists individuals with estate planning, drafting wills, personal directives, and powers of attorney, and supports business owners with commercial lease reviews. He is also fluent in Punjabi and conversational in Hindi.

Outside of work, Mavy enjoys playing basketball, taking trips to the mountains, and following the hometown Flames. As a born and raised Calgarian, he is also an active community builder, contributing his time and skills to strengthen and support those around him.
