Professional Background

Silas is completing his articling year with SVR after working with the firm as a summer student in 2023 and 2024. He works primarily in the civil litigation department, where he has developed a strong interest in insurance law. He is actively involved in research, drafting documents and reports, attending questionings, and making court appearances.

Before law school, Silas attended the University of Michigan–Dearborn, where he played varsity hockey while majoring in Biology and minoring in Criminology & Criminal Justice. His attention to detail and commitment to fairness led him to pursue a career in law. He went on to study at the University of Alberta Faculty of Law, where he twice helped his team, the Tortfeasors, win the annual Dale Masson Western Canada law school hockey tournament. In his third year, he earned the highest grade in his Wills & Administration class.

Outside of the office, Silas continues to practice his passion for enforcing justice and interpreting rules as an avid hockey referee.
